Click below for an Adobe Acrobat Reader version of the manual, about a 2 MB download of a single PDF file. Thanks to Ken at Adobe!
Niko was kind enough to scan in a few pages of an older FIE version of the manual. These are the pages that differ:Front Cover
Front cover showing folder versionPage 1
(1) How To Use The Safeties (lever style)Page 6
(6) How To Use The Folding Stock
BTW, the Franchi factory in Italy
was kind enough to send me their version of a USA owners manual, but it
turned out to be just a B&W copy of the original manual I present above.
(This section used to be titled Missing from the USA User's Manual. It turned out to be complete B.S. Sorry)
There is what appears to be an adjustment lever on the underside of the SPAS:
If you take the gun apart, you'll see moving it changes the amount of gas that is sent to the gas piston. This lead several people (including me) to think it was an adjustment lever for the power level of the shells being used.
Recently an observant reader of this site noticed that wasn't the case. Yes, moving it could turn on or shut off the gas to the piston -- but the SPAS itself moves this lever. Any adjustment of position by you will be immediately discarded.
What this actually used for is to completely shut off the gas when the gun is in Manual or pump mode, turn it on when in Auto or semiauto mode. There are grooves inside the forend that slide the lever. The slide is pulled back about an inch in the photo above. If the slide is pushed all the way forward, the forend will slide over the lever and push it to shut the gas off. If the forend is slid farther forward to the Auto position, that further movement will slide the adjustment lever over the other way to allow gas to flow.
